Acer unveils impressive new Swift Go and Predator Helios laptops at CES 2023
Acer is known for its wide range of laptops and monitors, and its announcement at CES 2023 ticked many of the expected boxes. Acer is releasing new Swift laptops, including the new Predator and Nitro gaming laptops and the all-new Swift Go line, which includes 13th Gen Intel processors.
So what’s new from Acer at CES 2023?
Acer Swift Go 16 and Swift Go 14
Acer’s Swift laptops offer slim and compact devices that don’t compromise linear balance. The new Acer Swift Go 16 and Swift Go 14 continue this tradition with slim bezels, lightweight construction and, above all, 13th generation Intel processors.
In addition, the new Swift Go 14 and Swift Go 14 have improved OLED displays, which should make both variants perfect for any creative endeavor or just watching a movie.
The Go 16 has an impressive 16-inch 3.2K OLED display with a resolution of 3200×2000 and a refresh rate of 120Hz, while the Go 14 has a slightly smaller 14-inch 2.8K OLED display with a resolution of 2880×1800 and a refresh rate of 90Hz.
In addition to the obvious appeal of a high-quality screen, Acer has made sure that the new Swift Go laptops use only 13th generation Intel processors. Previously, the Swift line was available with AMD’s Ryzen mobile processors, but its 2023 models will now use only Intel silicon. Additionally, both models support up to 16GB of RAM with a 2TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD.
Another point to note about the new Swift Go range is the focus on employees and productivity. Acer is building the Swift line with productivity in mind, and it’s nice to see an impressive 1440p integrated webcam on both new models. In addition, each model has USB Type-C, HDMI 2.1 ports and a MicroSD reader.
The Swift Go 16 will start at $799 in June 2023, and the Swift Go 14 will start a little sooner at $849 in May 2023.
Acer Predator Helios 16 and Predator Helios 18
Acer is also known for its gaming laptops, and the new Predator Helios 16 and Predator Helios 18 look like absolute behemoths. If you’re in the market for a new gaming laptop, they’re sure to pique your interest.
Acer Predator Helios 18 is Acer’s first 18-inch gaming laptop powered by Intel’s 13th Generation Core i9 HX (or Core i7 HX) processor with Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 mobile graphics processor. Combined with 32GB of RAM, the Predator is clear. The Helios 18 is more than just a gaming laptop; it almost replaces a desktop computer.
You’ll find the 18-inch screen in three configurations: WUXGA (1920×1080) at 165Hz, WQXGA (2560×1600) at 165Hz or 240Hz (the higher refresh rate can be useful for fast-paced games), and AUO’s ultra-fast 250Hz mini – LED display. The latter should provide one of the best gaming laptop screens around, and should look absolutely gorgeous despite its relatively large size.
Obviously, 18 inches is big, so this isn’t a laptop you’ll be lugging around for work. But given its impressive specs, built-in RGB system, and all-new 5th generation AeroBlade cooling system, the Predator Helios 18 could be the device that introduces 18-inch gaming laptops to a wider audience.
However, these massive gaming laptops won’t come cheap. The Predator Helios 16 will start at $1,649 in March 2023, while the Predator Helios 18 will start at $1,699 in April 2023.
The new range of laptops from Acer meets all expectations.
The Swift Go and Predator Helios were undoubtedly the stars of Acer’s 2023 laptop lineup, and it will be interesting to see how these devices stack up to their impressive specs when they launch in late 2023. .
