Chinese cars of Brussels Motor Show 2023

As with the 2022 Mondial de l’Auto, several Chinese brands traveled to the Brussels show, including some unknown to the French (BAIC, DFSK or Maxus). MG4, Seres 5 or BYD Atto 3: an overview of the models to discover.

Several Chinese brands used the Brussels Motor Show to showcase their latest innovations.

Most car manufacturers responded to the call of the Brussels Motor Show. This 2023 edition also marks the arrival of several Chinese brandssome were already present at the Paris Motor Show in the fall of 2022. Discover the models displayed by the brand.

BAIC X55

The sketch of this 4.41 m long SUV, which was presented as a European premiere at the Brussels Motor Show, was drawn by a well-known designer – Walter de Silva – to whom we owe the Alfa Romeo 156 and several models of the Volkswagen group. The hardware is in good period with recessed door handles and mirror like cameras. Under the hood, the X55 is powered by a 1.5 turbo petrol engine sourced from Mitsubishi. An LPG powered version has also been announced. Its import to France is not on the agenda.

BYD Atto 3, Tang and Han

Visited Brussels with BYD (Build Your Dreams). Same models as Mondial de Paris. Starting with Atto 3. This electric compact SUV promises a range of about 420 km thanks to its 60.5 kWh battery. Priced from €43,690 in France (excluding eco bonus), it competes with the likes of the Kia Niro EV. The Tang is a larger SUV (4.87m) as it can carry up to 7 people. The electric has a comfortable 517bhp, but despite its large 86.4kWh battery, it disappoints with a range of just 400km. Its price exceeds 70,000 euros in France.

Equally expensive, the Han is a 5m-long large sedan aimed at the Tesla Model S. The version offered in France has more than 500 hp, goes from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds and shows a range of 521 km in WLTP. period. These three models have been imported and marketed in France by BymyCar since the end of 2022.

DFSK Fengon 500 and Fengon 5

This Chinese brand is exhibited two 137-hp gasoline-powered SUVs around. The length of the first is 4.38 m, and the second is about thirty centimeters long (4.69 m) and distinguished by a coupe profile.

Maxus Mifa 9

Known for its premium utility vehicles, Maxus enters the passenger car segment with the Mifa 9. Large 7 seater minivan with 100% electric motor. The brand claims a mileage of around 450 km according to the WLTP cycle. The only problem: this model is poorly suited to the European market with a length of 5.27 m.

MG-Motor

The most famous Chinese brand in France also participates in the Brussels Motor Show. The whole range is presented: MG5 electric station wagon, Marvel R compact SUV, thermal and electric ZS. Not to mention their latest innovation, the MG4. Available in France for less than €30,000 (before deducting the bonus) this model will soon be enriched with a version with two engines (4×4) and a large battery of 77 kWh in the summer of 2023.

Sir 5

Ceres 5, the latest version of which was presented in Belgium, is the big brother of Ceres 3. This 4.71 m long electric SUV is available in two or four wheel drive (one or two engine) versions. The first declares 500 km of autonomy, the second reaches 530 km thanks to a larger battery (80 vs. 90 kWh). The top version boasts 585 horsepower and a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of less than 4 seconds. Launched on the European market in the spring, it is invoiced from 63,900 euros to around 75,000 euros in Germany. The range-extending “EVR” version was also presented at the Brussels Motor Show. Its import to the French market will be decided at the beginning of February 2023.
