On November 23rd, Honor chose to unveil its innovations during a China event packed with announcements. With Magic Vs, a particularly ambitious folding model, the brand also introduced three 5G models that make up the Honor 80 series running Android 12. With the latter, the manufacturer is trying to position itself in several different segments.

Honor 80 SE is the most affordable model among these three models. It stands out quite clearly from other varieties and offers a fairly generic design.

It has a Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels), 6.67-inch curved Amoled panel with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Underneath the latter is a MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC paired with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Therefore, we can expect decent performance in multitasking and gaming.

In the photos, the triple photosensor control panel consists of a 64 Mpx main module, a 5 Mpx ultra-wide angle (f / 2.2) and a 2 Mpx (f / 2.4) macro module, whose lenses open at f / 1.8. ). On the front, there is a 32 Mpx (f / 2.4) module that will focus on selfies. Autonomy is provided by a 4600 mAh battery compatible with fast charging at 66 W.

The Honor SE is available for pre-order for 2,399 yuan, which is about 325 euros (excluding taxes). Sales will begin on December 9 in China. As with all series, release dates for the rest of the world are still unknown.

Ambitious standard model

The Honor 80 is a bit more ambitious and has a similar design to the previous models. Thus, we find two circular photo islands intermingled.

The board is similar to the SE model, but it’s not the SoC that brings it to life. Honor has opted here for Qualcomm’s new mid-range chipset, the Snapdragon 782G. The successor to the very good Snapdragon 778G should be able to offer solid performance in its price segment. Here again we are entitled to 8/12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.

For the photo, the company relied on a 160 Mpx main sensor with an aperture of f/1.8. We can’t wait to see the results in the lab. It is accompanied by a 5 Mpx ultra-wide-angle module (f/2.2) and a 2 Mpx (f/2.4) macro sensor. For selfies, it has the same 32 Mpx sensor as the SE version. The 4800mAh battery is also compatible with fast charging at 66W. It is enough to refuel in less than an hour.

The Honor 80 has been announced for pre-order at 2,699 yuan, which is roughly 365 euros (excluding taxes). We don’t know its final price for Europe, of course, but it could be very good value for money.

Pro version that doesn’t forget anything

The Pro version is logically the most successful. And there’s something fascinating about its spec sheet. At the back, two photo islands benefit from a pretty metal strap reminiscent of the figure 8.

Its 6.78-inch 120Hz Oled panel looks a bit more curved, but it’s also sharper (437 ppi, 1224 x 2700 pixels). It is said to offer a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits and a sampling rate of up to 1,920 Hz, which is ideal for gaming.

That’s good, it comes with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, one of the most powerful SoCs on the market. Everything is equipped with 8/12 GB of RAM and 256/512 GB of storage.

The brand leaves nothing to chance in the photo. This model, labeled Pro, takes the 160 Mpx sensor from the Honor 80 and accompanies it with a 50 Mpx ultra-wide-angle module with an aperture of f / 2.0 and a 2 Mpx macro sensor. On the front, there is a duo consisting of a 50 Mpx module and a 2 Mpx depth sensor that will serve for selfies.

Honor once again relies on a 66W rechargeable 4800mAh battery to power things up.

It is possible to pre-order the mobile device in 8/256 GB for 3499 yuan, which is approximately €475 (excluding taxes). The 12/512GB version costs around €555 without VAT.

Honor 80 and 80 Pro run on Android 12 with MagicOS 7 skin. They are available in black, green, blue and pink colors.
