Anthony Davis (55 points and 17 rebounds!!!) defeated the Wizards
What more can I say about itAnthony Davis that you don’t already know? Probably nothing, and so we’ll leave you with his hair-raising stat line as it sums up his dominance perfectly: 55 points, 17 rebounds and 3 blocks !!! Since blocking was taken into account in 1973, only Kevin McHale (1985) had at least 55 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocks in the NBA…
Suffice it to say that this legendary performance (and the term is not stolen) in the interior of the All Stars clearly provoked him. Lakers towards victory, on the floor Wizards (130-119). A logical and authoritative success, by the way, the eighth in ten games that allowed teammates LeBron James (29 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists) to continue his rise in the standings (12th) and move closer to a balanced…
Unlike Los Angeles, Washington is on its own side in the crunch, where it suffered its sixth loss in seven games. Going a bit further than the top 8 and even out of the top 10 in the East is synonymous with play-in…
WHAT TO REMEMBER
— Just Anthony Davis. There is no shortage of superlatives to describe the state of form within the Lakers through three weeks. On another planet, he might be the best player in the league right now, one of the few players aiming for MVP and DPOY titles with this level of play. A racket in front of him, unable to slow him down and without the slightest solution. All in all good shooting and his stats speak for him, he really didn’t miss a beat: 22/30 shooting, 2/3 3-pointers and 9/9 field goals…enough to earn the “MVPs”! MVP! MVP! From Capital One Arena!
— Lakers, kings of the second quarter. At nearly 32 points per game and a +5 margin over the span, the Purple & Gold are the NBA’s best second quarter team, and they proved it again last night. In those twelve minutes (35-23) unbearable, they blew the Wizards without forcing, certainly without pressing the paint and without penalty from distance. Collectively trained, because cheap and willing to revive the ball, Darwin Ham’s men also left Washington with water with 3-pts. Paid “choice” and success of the day was established at this moment.
TOPS/FLOPS
✅ LeBron James. The hierarchy among the Lakers finally appears to be established, or at least beginning to take shape. Illustration tonight, where “The King” generally put himself at the service of Anthony Davis, using the latter’s gravity-induced slips to go and write his points in the paint. A convincing performance from the four-time MVP, of course, was somewhat spoiled (3 points on 2/7, 5 turnovers), but it was overshadowed by the scary level of this “AD” of big nights. And that’s a pretty good sign for Los Angeles…
✅ Lonnie Walker IV. Quietly, the back of the Lakers made the powder talk from a distance: 4/4, 20 points in just 25 minutes. A solid third offensive option behind the LeBron/Davis pairing certainly gave him a ton of room on offense…
✅ Washington’s fourth quarter. If the lead is “only” 11 points, even though it’s up to 29 after coming back from the locker room, it’s because the Wizards finally found the ball in the final half. The problem: the game was already folded and they came back from far, hoping to upset these Lakers even more. However, it should be noted that Daniel Gafford (19 points, 7 rebounds) and Corey Kispert (16 points), even Kristaps Porzingis (27 points, 9 rebounds) and Kyle Kuzma (26 points, 7 rebounds) respectively, are the collective of Los Angeles. the dignity of fighting using his leisure.
⛔ Bradley Beal’s injury. Three minutes. Or the game time of the Wizards back tonight. With a hamstring injury, he didn’t play again all evening after coming off early in the first quarter, and the injury made things a lot easier for the Lakers. Even if he’s definitely not the one who can slow down Anthony Davis…
⛔ Patrick Beverley. Even in a game like this where everything is in place for the forwards to shine, the Lakers point guard is unable to positively impact his team’s play as the defensemen decide to stay in the locker room. “Pat Bev”, who failed to make the smallest basket (0/4) and was clearly not defended in the game, is the weight number for Los Angeles today, and Darwin Hamm Austin Reaves or Troy Brown Jr. wondering when he will change his five to present.
⛔ Dani Avdija and Will Barton. Avdija/Barton had a very solid matchup (7 points, 1/11, including 3/16 on 3-pointers, cumulatively…), but given the early injury to Wizards Bradley Beal, he would need to respond. Fortunately, the Corey Kispert-Jordan Goodwin-Daniel Gafford trio was more inspired when they came off the bench…
