The Royals took 5 out of 5!

The curves have crossed for the Kings and Spurs, and tonight De’Aaron Fox’s teammates claim their 5th straight win, while the Spurs sit in 13th place in the Western Conference. Winners 130-112, the Kings needed two “runs” to make the difference. At the beginning of the match, De’Aaron Fox and Kevin Huerter maneuvered to lead by 10 points (14-4). “Spurs” will recover and the result will be more balanced (63-56 at halftime).

Several times, Devin Vassel’s partners would equalize but never go ahead. So Sacramento will pull off a coup d’état. The Fox / Monk tandem goes on a 7-0 run to end the 3rd quarter.

An 11-0 run, then 20-5, doesn’t slow the deficit. After three minutes in the final quarter, Sacramento recovered (102-87) and Domantas Sabonis and Harrison Barnes were synonymous with 7th place in the West with 3-pointers responsible for confirming this 5th consecutive victory.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

The quality of the collective. We don’t want to get fired up, but at times this Kings 2022/23 Warriors reminds me… It’s always moving and the Fox / Huerter duo has all the Splash Brothers. What’s interesting is the off-the-ball play after the ball-and-roll to offer solutions to the ball carrier, just like in big-time Golden State.

Jeremy Sochan’s dunk. If you’re nostalgic for Blake Griffin’s dunks, Jeremy Sochan has given us a giant poster of a typical Blake Griffin “poster” dunk.

Kings series. The Kings will aim for their 6th straight win against the Pistons on Sunday. Nothing like this has happened to them since the 2004/2005 season!

TOPS/FLOPS

De’Aaron Fox. He made 5 of 5 shots in the first quarter. Plays fair, never oversteps and defends better and better. He makes 8 assists and doesn’t lose the ball, and that says a lot about his +/- impact: +36!

Malik Rahib. How could the Lakers let go of such a jokester? Between the end of the 3rd quarter and the start of the 4th quarter, he was the one who drove the Spurs away. He is a serious contender for the best 6th man.

Devin Vassell. “Sophomore” Keldon gets the most credit in Johnson’s absence and shows he can do anything. The fundamentals are there, and with the ball in hand, he can create his shot in the half or near the circle. Very little waste.

Jakob Poeltl. After his career-best performance against the Blazers, the Austrian didn’t care about the matchup. Left behind to defend on Sabonis, he was plagued by the constant motion of the Kings offense.
