According to Mayor Jérôme Guillem, “There is no Superman in politics”

I’m doing well. This heart failure is due to my political commitment and the stress it creates. I did not listen to my friends’ warnings. I demonstrate pedagogy with my chosen colleagues. The priority is survival. There is no “Superman” in politics. I’m trying to find a balance. I can’t spend my life sleeping three or four hours a night.

Covid, flood, energy crisis, fires etc. How to save the calendar under these conditions?

I’m doing well. This heart failure is due to my political commitment and the stress it creates. I did not listen to my friends’ warnings. I demonstrate pedagogy with my chosen colleagues. The priority is survival. There is no “Superman” in politics. I’m trying to find a balance. I can’t spend my life sleeping three or four hours a night.

Covid, flood, energy crisis, fires etc. How to save the calendar under these conditions?

Maybe we should adjust our schedule a bit. But we already had a strong social and environmental approach. I’m thinking, for example, of cafeteria prices (50 cents per meal for some households, editor’s note). The cost of energy challenges our operations. I hope for the support of the state and its “green fund”. Will we be able to invest to get this state aid?

The main source of energy savings is building insulation. Does the municipality have the opportunity to use this leverage?

Choices will have to be made. Gas and electricity bills are currently €500,000 per year. We are not protected by a tariff shield. Tomorrow, if we don’t change our consumption, we will be 1.6 million. We asked the associations to enter the vigilance process. I look forward to their suggestions, no more “open bar”. We will save money, but the priority is to maintain the temperature in our schools and the quality of our food.

Only 10% of street lights in Langon are equipped with LEDs…

We have been following our bulb replacement strategy since 2018. In early November, we turned off one of the two traffic lights (900 out of 1,800). It works, you can’t tell the difference.

Why don’t you install autonomous solar lampposts as demanded by opposition official Didier Sendres?

This will be interesting in future regions, it will save us from drawing networks. But its payback period is too long to replace existing street lights.

Will Christmas 2022 be less decorated than last year?

In 2021, we lit from mid-November to mid-January. This year: mid-December to early January. And we will no longer use the old high-consuming garlands.

You are working on creating a central heating network. What is this ?

This is a giant boiler that will run on biomass, in this case wood. If we connect the hospital, colleges, high schools, Spadium, schools and even the clinic to this network, the relevance of this project is real. All actors are interested. We do not have any information about the location and price of this equipment yet. We study the best legal support: management, public service delegation (DSP), local public company (SPL). Ideal time: end of 2025 – beginning of 2026.

What about the photovoltaic shade project behind the town hall?

It was contested by the state because it was located in a flood zone. I’ll beg to differ, this parking lot floods every two hundred years. Another shade shelter project is underway in the Durros Hall car park. Work was supposed to begin this summer, but construction of the synthetic pitch has frozen the site. The works will be started by the end of the year. The shadow house will be connected to the network and we will receive rent from the manager.

Lango had a population of 7,409 in 2008 and 7,357 in 2019. According to INSEE figures, the population is decreasing and aging. Does it bother you?

These figures of INSEE surprise me. I’m not saying that the population is more, but still. We do not have the same tendencies when observing water meter openings. That said, Langon shouldn’t get fat just for the sake of getting fat. It doesn’t mean anything. We are committed to quality housing typology in up-and-coming neighborhoods (Péran, Carrelasse, Moléon, Gourmette). Lango needs young families.

Where is the local inter-municipal urban plan (PLUi) that will unlock new urban areas?

Approval of the PLUi is scheduled for Dec. 20 at the Community Council to take effect in early 2023. We are in the process of finalizing all the documents. We take into account the results of the public inquiry. We review the final cards and rules before sending them to the law firm for proofreading.

You discovered the plans for the future Langon station during the public meeting of the metropolitan RER at the end of October…

In effect. In these planes, new roads occupy spaces where our communities have other projects. I talked about it with the sub-prefect. We will meet with SNCF Réseau and Gares et Connexions to present our PLUi to them and show them that we have pre-identified 52 hectares of land between Langon and Toulenne for housing, economic activity and services. We must tune our violins.

The mayor of La Réole wants the RER to go to Marmande. What do you think ?
