With a lot of heart! We allowed ourselves to be freer than ever. I say “we” because this album still has a great band concept, I couldn’t have done it without the extraordinary musicians who accompanied me and wrote the songs.
This is an album that gives you energy… Need something positive?
The goal is to invite people to dance and put their worries aside. To entertain, to make people happy, that is, I think, the power of music. And for that, I wanted to bring people back to the heart of this album. Today we hear a very synthetic sound that suits many projects, but here I wanted originality.
You’ve recorded at London’s Eastcote Studios, which has hosted the Sex Pistols, Amy Winehouse and Adele. Why this choice?
This is a studio, under which conditions you can record on tapes to live and immediately brings a different sound. Musicians play together in an old booth with old microphones. There is a soul. Modernity, I added that later, especially with the two directors, Julio and Jordan, who are from the city and are used to working on less vintage software!

We started thinking about songs in the middle of covid. I missed people, I wanted to celebrate, to give a generous and original concert, like a big show with many musicians on stage. When I think about my musical projects, I have to think about the form in which it can appear on stage. I imagined myself in an atmosphere with brass instruments around me!
Sounds very sixties and seventies… What do you like about that era?
Exuberant imagination of those years! There were many musical offerings. And then there are the aesthetics. Clothes, hairstyles… I’m lucky that people lend me clothes – the price is often quoted. (laughs) – and as long as I have fun! Visually, there’s a lot to see in the 1960s and 1970s!

It’s a bit like the UFO of the album, it’s more classic than the others. I couldn’t ignore it because it affected me so much. It speaks to a sense of family, and I was obviously thinking about my generation, but also about people who might be nostalgic for life cycles, the passage of time. Have you ever thought about composing your own songs?
I love to write and compose… I always have a little touch in what I do: I do takes, I share my thoughts… But I don’t know how to do it alone; I love working with others in the studio, creating musical ping pong games… It’s like a school presentation where everyone brings their little idea, it’s great!
2022 is also the year of your twenty-year career, do you feel like discovering everything you want?
It was too soon! They often say that you should enjoy the present moment, so I did. I’ve been lucky enough to have so many incredible human adventures through different scenes, tours, album recordings. I have taken different musical directions, I am an epicurean in my life as well as in my approach to music. I love learning. Through all these challenges I reset every time. Whether included Voicefor star hungryI always take it as a new challenge.
Are there any universes you want to exploit?
I have many dreams! I listen to everything, rap, electro, pop, soul and I want to do it all! So aging is not painful for me, I still have a lot to learn, many ways to activate my interest.
